Human Health

Largest growth in connected devices is in healthcare with 144 million devices in 2015 to a predicted 729 million by 2020, ranging from home health monitoring and maintenance; to in-hospital information management; to neutrally-connected device for mobility, manipulation, and speech restoration; to robotic surgical systems; to remote medicine; and beyond. Much of the foundation of the HFi has origins in work with individuals with limb loss or neurological deficits such as stroke and spinal cord injury. These activities will continue and HFi will expand to surgical robotics and other medical devices.
